Nope! If your landlord is part of Piñata, then you already have an account waiting for you. If your landlord is not part of Piñata, you can create an account on your own anytime!
Your Piñata membership gives you access to Piñata Pay, the most rewarding way to pay rent! This no-fee checking account gives you rewards when you save and rewards when you spend. It’s the benefits of a credit card without going into debt! Although you don’t need to use Piñata Pay to pay rent, it’s sort of a no-brainer to use it as your source of payment and get more back for rent!
Every month, we report your rent payment to all three major credit bureaus: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. This ensures that no matter where someone checks your score, they’ll get a score with your rent payments included! The boost people see from this varies, but our renters have seen an average 60 point increase in the 1st year of reporting!
Rest assured, we only submit on-time rent payments to the credit bureaus. However, know that your property manager/landlord is always able to directly report missed payments to credit bureaus, regardless of if they’re part of Piñata.
We encrypt all key personal data and only use trusted partners like Stripe and Plaid, which are used by major banks and other financial institutions. Piñata can never see users’ personal information or access bank account credentials.
